I am a clinical social worker and registered yoga teacher who empowers people using the guiding principles of empathy, curiosity, cultural humility, and collaboration. I take an integrative and psychobiological approach to counseling, and work to understand how the intersection of your unique experiences and identities impact you today.
I remain committed to working with people as they face a range of experiences, including multicultural concerns, oppression, identity exploration, trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, queer/LGB+ concerns, trans and gender identity related concerns, interpersonal and relationship concerns, chronic illness, and grief and loss. I am an anti-oppression and sex-positive practitioner. My holistic and relational approach incorporates a diverse range of clinical techniques. This includes drawing from my training in Somatic Experiencing, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, Interpersonal, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), multicultural affirming perspectives, and mindfulness practices.
In addition to these more "Western" psychological approaches to therapy, my own background as an Indian-American cis-woman as well as my training and experiences in esoteric practices rooted in the ancient traditions and wisdoms of India, China, and Tibet deeply inform my work. My daily practices integrate yoga asana, Sanskrit chanting, yoga philosophy, pranayama, and multiple approaches to meditation. I draw from these practices and find these "Eastern" practices seamlessly meet our more "Western" approaches to therapy.
Through my practice, I help individuals develop an embodied awareness of how their own natural processes of self-healing may have been blocked over time. I look forward to the process of helping individuals deepen their self-awareness and take safe risks. I am honored and eager to help you make positive changes, and ultimately, to heal.
I work with people 18 years and older on a range of experiences, including multicultural concerns, oppression, identity exploration, trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, interpersonal and relationship concerns, chronic illness, and grief and loss. I have particular expertise in working with people with intersecting marginalized identities including, and not limited to, racial/ethnic minority populations and queer/LGB+ and trans populations.
